Truwan is today’s Ping-Sheng tribe in Hezuo Village, Ren-ai Township, Nantou County. The five tribal units (Truku) are Sadu, Bushi, Truwan, Brayaw and Bushi Daya, which are the roots of Truku tribe. In order to look for additional hunting ground and cultivation land for the growing population, ancestors of the Truku tribe crossed the Central Mountains, passed the north peak of Cilai Mountain, and settled down in the valleys of the Liwu River, the Mugua River, and the Daosai River. Their inhabitation area covers the Central Mountain, which is within the present range of Taroko National Park.
